In July, six St. Peter Community Education students learned the copper foil technique in stained glass production. The class, which was taught Mankato Artist Susan Shanklin, provided an introduction to the different tools and materials used in the glass craft.

With a design by Sister Mary Ann Osborne of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, the students selected individual glass, and cut and shaped pieces of glass. They then used copper foil to wrap each piece and assembled them for soldering to complete their own geometric glass art piece. This three-week class was open to all levels of experience. The students said that they were happy to be able to finish a stained glass project of their own and take it home.
